Candied Butternut Squash! A delicious side dish that tastes like candy, but is packed full of nutrients, say it isn’t so! While these little cubes of deliciousness are packed full of nutrients, they also hit that sweet tooth. What gives the delicious little cubes of butternut squash their excellent taste? Maple Syrup with a Pumpkin Spice kick to it!
What makes this dish so healthy?
Butternut Squash has many health benefits, including being loaded with Fiber and Vitamin C. It prevents high blood pressure, keeps your bones strong, reduces inflammation, and boosts the immune system while aiding in weight loss. Then there is the Maple Syrup, and while deliciously sweet, it’s packed with antioxidants and immune-boosting vitamins. Cinnamon is excellent for gut health due to its high antioxidants. Cinnamon also has many anti-inflammatory properties, is known to fight infections and viruses, and is ideal for the skin.
How to make Candied Butternut Squash:
Not only is candied butternut squash delicious, but this dish is super easy to make. Start by cubbing the butternut squash. You can buy it already cubed to save time. When prepping a big meal like Thanksgiving dinner, this can be a big-time saver, and it is worth the little bit of extra money. Butternut squash and cauliflower rice are the vegetables I usually buy pre-cut/prepped. I digress, throw in some maple syrup (honey or agave) and add your spices. Spread the cubes on a baking sheet, put them into the oven, and let the magic happen. Allow it to cool before trying; the maple syrup (like sugar) is extra hot
This dish is one of my favorite fall dishes, mainly because that is when Butternut Squash is in season and most affordable. It is perfect for your holiday meal, and you quickly make it ahead of time! Win-Win!
